Chopard once again demonstrated its love of the "seventh art" by organizing an exhibition of exclusive images of Marilyn during the 2012 Cannes Festival. Fashion photographer, Milton H. Greene, whose friendship with the star was legendary, is behind the lens. The images demonstrate the grace, mystery and diaphanous vulnerability of a super photogenic star with a million facets. The photographs were selected by The Archives, LLC, Chopard and Oscar Generale from the 4,000 photographs taken by Milton Greene, to which his son, Joshua Greene, owns the rights.
Fifty years ago, Marilyn Monroe left the cinema world bereft of her talent and legendary beauty. As symbols of ultimate glamour, beauty and allure, Marilyn Monroe and Chopard were destined to cross paths. In tribute to the movie star, Chopard unveiled an exceptional series of exclusive photographs by Milton H. Greene, as well as a tribute jewelry creation designed by co-president Caroline Scheufele.
As a tribute to Marilyn Monroe, who passed away 50 years ago, Chopard co-president Caroline Scheufele designed this extraordinary jewelry creation inspired by the star and which was worn by Eva Herzigova for the mounting of the steps ritual on the 65th Cannes Festival opening night.
The prestigious trophy is awarded to the winner of the Best Film category at the Cannes International Film Festival every year. In 1997, Pierre Viot, then President of the Festival met Caroline Scheufele. He was so charmed by the creativity and energy of Chopard’s Co-President, that he asked her to redesign the Palme d’Or. Since 1998, our craftsmen make a unique Palme d’Or every year.
